November 1st. Wow! Where has 2019 gone?!? I know it’s just the fact that I’m getting older, but these years seem to fly by faster and faster!
Halloween was a bust around here. Before dark, we had storm clouds rolling in and the wind was whipping. I could hear thunder rumbling in the distance and the dogs were NOT happy – at all! The next thing I knew, our phones were lighting up with tornado WARNINGS. We were fine around here, but I think the northern part of our county took the brunt of the storm. M was sniffing around the candy bowl, but I put it away and we’ll see if we have anyone show up tonight.
I wanted to put our lighted jack-o-lantern on the front porch last night and asked M for his help. His first question was: do we have any extension cords? You would have been so proud of me! I didn’t point out that he has a garage full of them. I just went and got one for him.
Yesterday afternoon, one of his former co-workers called and asked him to play golf Saturday. He hasn’t played in YEARS, but I think it will be great for him to get out and do it. This morning, he was suddenly worried about the dress code at the golf course and wanted to look at it online. So he sat down in front of my laptop. And just sat there. Didn’t ask me what to do . . . and didn’t do anything . . . just sat there, expectantly. Finally, I couldn’t take it any longer and logged onto the computer for him and got him to the golf course website. Not sure what he’s going to wear, but it will be good for him to get out of the house.
My appointment with the counselor is tomorrow. I’ve decided to start going back – at least once a month. I used all the appointments my insurance covered back in the spring, but even if it means I’m paying for this out of pocket and we have to give up something else to afford it, I think this is important for my mental health – and for my relationship with M.
This weekend will be spent doing some early holiday baking for a work project. Actually, it’s one of my favorite things to do, and my house will smell delightful! Daylight savings time ends Sunday – fall back! And don’t forget to change those smoke detector batteries!
I think that going to a counselor is an excellent idea, and I’m glad that you are realizing that you need to take care of yourself. I have seen someone from time to time throughout my adult life, and just having someone to talk to, one-on-one is worth any money you need to pay. Hopefully your counselor will be covered like mine was. I only had to pay the copay when I went.
The woman at the desk took my insurance info and when I came out she was gone – so I never paid anything! I’m sure they’ll let me know. 🙂
Yeah, it’s worth it, in my opinion. I wish I had gone when I was dealing with my mother.
Hugs! 🙂
Excellent decision to continue the counseling. I HATE, HATE, HATE standard time. I always hated getting home from work in the dark, I would adjust my schedule to go in earlier so I could get home with a little daylight left. When it gets dark I’m ready to go to bed and 6:00 pm is just too early.
I know what you mean about the dark – but I’m so glad to get that hour of sleep back! I love it! 🙂
Even if you are “amazing,” you can still benefit from some counseling now and then. There is nothing like an impartial party that can see through the clutter to what’s important. I highly recommend it on at least an occasional basis.
You’re so right! For every d-i-l who thinks I’m great, there’s a brother-in-law (my husband’s brother) calling me out for writing about my problems and telling me he’d like to take M away from me and care for him himself because I don’t deserve him. Oh well – it all balances out.
Pretty nice post. I just stumbled upon your weblog and wanted to
say that I have really enjoyed browsing your blog posts.
In any case I’ll be subscribing to your rss feed and I hope you write
again very soon!
Thank you for your kind comments! Happy Thanksgiving!
Great article. I’m dealing with some of these issues as well..
Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this site. It’s simple, yet effective.
A lot of times it’s challenging to get that “perfect balance” between user friendliness
and visual appeal. I must say you’ve done a superb job with this.
In addition, the blog loads super fast for me on Firefox.
Superb Blog!
I love your blog.. very nice colors & theme. Did you design this website yourself
or did you hire someone to do it for you? Plz reply as I’m looking to design my own blog and would like to know where u
got this from. thanks a lot
I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own weblog and was curious what all is needed
to get set up? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a
pretty penny? I’m not very web smart so I’m not 100% positive.
Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks
