We are suckers! We might as well just have it tattooed to our foreheads and let the whole world know.
Last week, I made the mistake of checking out the “Pet of the Week” on the local news channel, and it was the sweetest, older chocolate Lab mix at the animal shelter and his name was Oscar. Of course, we had to rush to the shelter and meet him!
The sad thing was, Oscar wanted nothing to do with us! We tried to play with him in the yard and engage him, but he wasn’t impressed with M and me AT ALL! We brought our dogs to meet him, as well, and we were walking to the car to get them, when we walked by another kennel and saw this little, bitty girl sitting on her bed and just looking so pitiful.
M was a goner – right then and there. “Let’s look at her,” he said.
Her name was Nilla Wafer – if you can believe THAT. And she was all over both of us, like a rash. And then she played so well with our other dogs – it was like a match made in heaven.
We had to leave her at the shelter so she could be spayed and M picked her up yesterday afternoon. She was sad and miserable last night, but she has perked up today and everyone seems to be getting along very well. We’ve decided to call her Bella, rather than Nilla Wafer.
Did we need another dog? No. I hope she will get M out walking with them even more than he has been. We’ll see. But she’s awfully cute. And we’ve rescued another stray from the animal shelter, so hopefully, there will be some good karma coming our way.
Fingers crossed! And no more “Pet of the Week!”
Congratulations! Bella is muy bellissimo.

Good job adopting from the shelter!
We are firm believers in adopting and not shopping for the latest “designer” dog!
Oh she looks like a sweetheart. So glad she found you!
