12 Minutes to Change Your Life

Yesterday, a friend linked to a video from several years ago that was AMAZINGLY eye opening. It was a news report from Night Line, if that gives you some idea how old it was.

The reporter, Cynthia McFadden, participated in an experiment where she was fitted with equipment that would allow her to experience life as someone with dementia experiences life.

You could see, in the 12 minutes she spent attempting to perform a few household tasks with this new, altered reality, she was frustrated and VERY out of sorts.

And relieved when it was over.

I can say, with certainty, that I don’t want an experience like this. But, after watching the video, I have a new appreciation(?) for what M is experiencing. And (hopefully) it will help me to have more patience and kindness.
