When Labor Day Means Labor

Really quite excited for this weekend. I’m taking a few days off and putting people to work. M’s older brother and girlfriend from NJ are coming in for a visit and they made the mistake of saying they would be willing to help with chores around the house.

Bahahahahahaha!

Do I have chores lined up for them, or what?

Oh yes, chores will be done.

That “honey-do” list that over-whelms me on my best day . . . that’s the one we’ll be tackling.

I have purchased a pound cake from a local woman who bakes really delicious cakes, as a kind-of bribe to keep them working. And, I guess I can rattle some pots and pans to come up with a few meals . . . maybe order a pizza (or two.)

Other than that, it’s work, work, work! We’re going to get some stuff done!

I had to laugh earlier today. My father drove M and our younger son (YS) to Charlotte today for the son’s follow-up appointment from his ACL surgery on the 24th. I received a text from YS letting me know his appointment had gone well and that he’s healing ahead of schedule. I sent him a text back and said “Enjoy your lunch at Cracker Barrel.”

I didn’t hear from him for about 15 minutes, then he sent me another text saying, “Wow, you know your dad well.”

Oh yes, I do. If dad is on the road and doesn’t get breakfast at Biscuitville, you can rest assured, lunch will be a Cracker Barrel. Or else he’ll go hungry. And so will you.

Set in his ways? Nah.

Have a safe and happy Labor Day weekend!
